The Original Book

A Walk in My Skin cover.PNG

A Walk in my Skin (2nd edition) [a novel of 32 autobiographical stories]

For the General Public & VCE students

This book is an collection of humorous and honest stories about a Greek migrant and his family's experiences in a country town, Hamilton, Victoria. Readers will find it easy to relate to, as each of us has experienced what it is like to move into a new environment and get on with life! It is whimsical, poignant and humorous. The feeling of the stories is like "They're a Weird Mob" and "My Family and Other Animals".

The stories are an honest telling of what can happen to people as they settle into a new country, with a different culture, and try to learn Aussie English! The book would appeal to those who enjoy reading about real-life experiences in Australia. Many Aussies will recall the events mentioned in the stories and perhaps relive their boisterous youth! It would also appeal to readers of local history and VCE students seeking further insight into themes such as: personal relationships, family, bullying, sexism, tolerance, forgiveness, beauty, the environment, faith, space travel, fighting, war, etc. In each chapter/story there is a proverb and a different literary device (metaphor, hyperbole, simile...) to awaken awareness in students and to enhance their writing skills.
